United States Air Force Airman Brady A. Smith graduated in May from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Airman Smith completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in an applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Smith, a 2008 Greenville High School graduate, is the son of Kassandra Dimaggio, an airman from 1987-1990, and his father is a career airman.

Smith is now attending technical school at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi until November.

He plans to be a ground radio communications technician, which will make him responsible for maintaining and repairing radio systems from ground to aircraft and for setting up radio communications, possibly in remote locations.

He scored high on entry tests and was able to choose from several possible jobs, mostly in the electronics and computer systems areas.

Smith signed up for six years and for the GI bill education credits so he can attend college after he leaves the Air Force.
