Lobitos shine like stars at graduation

Mrs. VanGorden's preschool class at Winkelman Elementary put on a wonderful performance for parents and family members Thursday, May 20, during their graduation ceremony.

After a presentation highlighting events throughout the year, the graduates each introduced themselves and took their seat on stage. Some were very timid to speak in front of an audience and had a little help from their teacher, while others seemed born with a microphone in hand ready to take on American Idol.

Andrew Waddell, Yliana Montijo, Dionna Galindo, and Damien Smith joined Mrs. VanGorden and led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Showcasing their vocal and dancing abilities, the students sang several songs before the presentation of the diplomas. The crowd favorite seemed to be "Tooty Ta," a modern day version of the "Hokey Pokey" meets Twister which has the children bent over with their knees together, bottoms up, feet apart, tongues out spinning around in circles.

After the laughter and applause died down, the graduates were called up one by one and presented with their diploma. They then exited the stage to join family members and pose for pictures in their cap and gowns. The Lobitos Preschool "Class of 2010" includes:

Kiana Aguirre Castaneda, Aliana Alvarez, Sativa Carrazco, Mersedez Cervantes-Silvas, Christopher Carter, Alexis De Los Reyes, Jasmine De Los Reyes, Brandon Garner Jr., Alonzo Gonzalez, Alejandro Lorona, Yliana Montijo, Emilio Rivera, Jacob Sosa-Quintana, Andrew Waddell and Raquela Westrope.

Francisca Boltarez, Nicholette Corona Lagunas, Moraes Cruz, Fabian Elvira, Dionna Galindo, Jesus Damian Garcia, Francisco Gastelo, Destiny Miller, Lorena Olmedo, Keyara O'Neal, Francisca Ramos, Brianna Slate, Damien Smith and Miles Smith.
