As the largest equestrian unit in the state, the Pinal County Sheriff's Department Mounted Unit is an integral part of the community.Comprised of equestrian enthusiasts, the Mounted Unit serves our county by participating in parades, memorials, color guard, and activities for children.

Founded in 2002, these dedicated officers also serve on search and rescue missions and provide crowd and riot control. While atop their trusty steed, not only are the officers more visible to the public, but the officers are also provided with a clearer view of a crowd, allowing them to pinpoint areas where their presence is needed.

In an effort to form a connection within local communities, officers patrol on horseback through communities such as South Coolidge. They have become a welcomed presence within the community as they increase their contact with the public, providing a valuable asset to the Sheriff's Department.

Asarco recently presented Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu with a donation to assist with costs associated with the upkeep of the horses. Both organizations acknowledge and share an appreciation of their partnership in serving the residents of Pinal County.
