Parting words from former Dewey employee

I am honored to have worked for the Town of Dewey Beach over these past couple of years. Truly, they are the most hardworking and dedicated employees I have ever seen. Through all the town issues they have not given up and stayed above the political fray. The citizens will never actually know how hard the employees work for the town.

These employees have worked through more than they should. Some have been harassed or threatened. Others do more with less every year. And some have burdens I wouldn't wish on anybody.

There are people in town who rarely get the respect they deserve, such as Steve Montgomery, who contributes much-needed resources and asks for nothing in return There is also Don Ziegler, who comes in at least once a week to help with the town finances. Commissioner Zeke Przygocki somehow is able to come to lend a hand when needed and to listen to the town's concerns at least once a week I thank Commissioner Rick Solloway for coming in and taking a realistic look at the town's budget. Town Manager Diana Smith and Police Chief Sam Mackert deserve loads of admiration for their work on some near-impossible tasks. The employees also deserve praise for working year-round with limited resources.

I hope one day you all get the respect you deserve, and your fears and uncertainty dissipate. Thank you for giving me a job and being such great friends over the past few years.
