The Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market, voted one of the top 20 farmers markets for its size in the United States by American Farmland Trust, opens for the season at noon, Tuesday, May 3.

This year, the market will be celebrating its fifth anniversary, offering great fresh, home-grown vegetables, fruits, and flowers from noon to 4 p.m. every Tuesday in Rehoboth's The Grove Park at the lighthouse circle behind the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce visitor center.

Pat Coluzzi, market master, announced there will be 36 vendors for the season, many returning for their fifth year.

Prepared food will be available for lunch, which can be eaten at the picnic tables in the park or taken home. Food from soup to nuts will be available, and entertainment will keep guests humming.

On the opening day, Henry De-Witt will pipe in customers on his bagpipe, followed by local musician Paul Cullen playing on his acoustic fingerstyle guitar. Special events featuring chef demos and floral arranging demonstrations will be offered throughout the market season from May through October. The Green Tent will provide eco-friendly tips and information for creating a green home environment and garden.

Check www.rbfarmersmar-ket.com, for information about the growing seasons of the fruits and vegetables.

This makes it easy to plan visits to the market when popular items, such as corn, tomatoes, and peaches, will be available. Delicious recipes are on the website for easy and healthful preparation.

The Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market is true to its motto of "real food, real farmers, real community." Coluzzi and the vendors are eager to welcome

residents and visitors from Rehoboth Beach and surrounding communities to continue its tradition of providing fresh, healthy, delicious, home-grown food products.

In celebration of the fifth anniversary, volunteers will be distributing free gifts while supplies last.
