Lewes in Bloom, a volunteer group that plants and maintains some of the public gardens in Lewes, will be selling-Lewes notecards and postcards, members' plants, gardening books, herbs from East Coast Garden Center and gardening gloves at the group's Annual Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 7, in front of Citizens Bank on Second Street.

As the City of Lewes reduces funding for Lewes in Bloom's efforts this growing season, new initiatives are being undertaken to raise money.

A new membership drive is under way with the following levels of giving: Individual $15, Supporting $25 and Sustaining $50.

While spme members enjoy digging in the dirt, others support the group in various ways. Bob Doyle has created a set of notecards and a postcard with photos taken around town,

which will be sold at the Annual Plant Sale. Debbie Burns and Kathy McDonough created an attractive Tulip Festival display at the Lewes Public Library.

Helga Gayowski ordered colorful melon-colored T-shirts for members to wear at Lewes in Bloom events.

Lynda Dunham agreed to head up the new membership efforts. Eddy Rayner continues to ply his carpentry skills when the group needs planters or a sandwich

board to show the group's efforts when working around town.

Warren Golde, co-chair and horticulturist for LIB, says, "People stop to say how much they enjoy the plantings around town when I am watering our plantings."

LIB extends an invitation to local businesses and residents to consider becoming members of or making a donation to Lewes in Bloom.

Funding from the City of

Lewes was reduced this year, but the members hope to keep those flowers blooming with support from the community.

Visit www.lewesinbloom.org or stop by the Annual Plant Sale May 7 to purchase plants and talk with members about supporting LIB through membership or a donation.
