Thirty-two teams of bowlers, including several from area businesses and organizations, will take over Milford Bowling Lanes Wednesday, May 25, for the 30th annual Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware Bowl For Kids' Sake. Area residents who are current or former Big Brothers and Big Sisters have also formed teams to compete in the event, which will begin at 6 p.m.

Designed to raise needed funds for children in Delaware, the event also serves as an opportunity for friendly competition and fun. The Beachcombers Corvette Club will have five teams participating, and a handful of businesses, such as Wawa, County Bank, and Schell Brothers, are each sponsoring four teams. Two of the Wawa teams are coming from Dover stores, and members are looking forward to competing with their counterparts from Milford, Lewes, and Rehoboth Wawa stores. Beebe Medical Center

will also be well represented with three teams.

Orville Mills of the Beachcombers Corvette Club was happy to report that 25 club members will participate in the event. The club has also selected Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware as its charity for 2011 and will donate proceeds from its August car show to the organization.

Also competing are teams from Applied Bank, Wilmington Trust, Fulton Bank, Community Bank, Citizens Bank, Bethel Methodist Church, and American Eagle Outfitters. Wilmington Trust and Ashland are sponsors for the event, and Grotto Pizza will provide pizza for the bowlers. Bowlers will receive two hours of free bowling, plus free food, drinks, and prizes. There will also be a DJ, chance auction, vendors, and more.

Jane Ezell of County Bank bowled at the BBBS Girls' Night Out event in January and will be taking to the lanes again for the

May fundraiser. "Everyone who participated in Girls' Night Out had such a great time that all of them, plus more people, wanted to do it again. And it benefits such a great cause," she said.

In Sussex County, 115 children are matched with mentors in a school-based or community match, and more than 60 children are waiting to be matched with a caring adult. Successful match stories have a positive impact on both the child and the mentor. The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware is to make a positive difference in the lives of children and youth through a professionally sup-sported one-to-one relationship with a caring adult. With offices in Wilmington, Dover, and '-Georgetown, each year the agency matches more than 1,400 children with caring mentors.

In addition to one-on-one mentoring relationships in the community, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware also coordinates a school-based mentoring program, providing support to many at-risk children in schools.
