Artists to paint en plein air May 20-22 in Rehoboth Beach

Groups to create weekend of art

Rehoboth Beach will host a Plein Air Arts Festival Friday-Sunday, May 20-22, with a variety of activities and exhibitions. Fourteen organizations have partnered to provide a weekend full of art-related activities for people of all ages.

Initiated by Rehoboth Beach Main Street and the Rehoboth Avt League, the event is sponsored by the Cape Gazette. Select artists from Rehoboth and as far away as Florida were invited by the Rehoboth Art League to participate in the Paint Out art competition. The artists will paint from dawn to dusk Friday, May 20, and Saturday, May 21, at various locations around Rehoboth. CAMP Rehoboth will host an exhibition of these

works, along with a reception and awards ceremony from 2 to 5 p.m, Sunday, May 22

The Rehoboth Art League's galleries and The Homestead will be open. The Rehoboth Beach Museum will display Rehoboth Plein Air artwork. Clear Space Theatre Company will present its original show "Words and Music: by Gershwin" at 7 p.m, Friday and Saturday and at 3 p.m., Sunday. MOSAIC art galleries will be open from 6-9 p.m., Friday

Rehoboth Beach Main Street will transform the beach block of Baltimore Avenue Saturday with bright tents and wares of local craft artists and photographers from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rehoboth Cooperative Preschool is featuring several children's art activities, and face painting by Kim Klabe will take place in Rehoboth Art League's tent throughout the day. From 11 a.m. to noon at the Bandstand, Rehoboth Beach Main Street and Heidi and Colleen Lowe will lead an amateur Speed Sketch event.
