Reception slated for May 28

AerieArt Gallery in Rehoboth Beach will open a new exhibit of original oil paintings by Chevy Chase, Md. artist Carole Sue Lebbin-Spector Memorial Day weekend, continuing through June. The artist will attend a free reception to greet visitors from 4 to 7 p.m, Saturday, May 28, at 45

1/2 Lake Ave., facing Third Street.

Lebbin-Spector has been creating imaginative works on canvas and paper for many years. As a painter and printmaker, she has studied the formal components of line, shape, composition, contrast, pattern and color. However, her art goes beyond surface presentations to where memory and reality intertwine.

Dick Poole, co-owner of

AerieArt Gallery with his wife Elisa, points out that the artists' deceptively forthright paintings in her current show have emerged from excellent academic grounding and many years of artistic experience. Lebbin-Spector received her bachelor of fine arts degree from Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, her master's from George Washington University in Washington, DC, and additional formal training at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and the Tyler School of Art in Rome.

In addition to several shows in the DC. area, Lebbin-Spector has displayed her work in Florida, Massachusetts, Texas, Washington, Tennessee, Mexico and

France. She is represented in many private collections in the United States and abroad.

During the summer, AerieArt Gallery will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Tuesday, and by appointment any time; call 302-584-6402.
