Why a single/bullet vote in Dewey is wrong

Recently, I was asked to vote for only one candidate in the Dewey Beach election Saturday, Sept. 25, and it struck me as odd that someone would ask me to relinquish my right to vote for a second candidate.

However, after viewing last month's town meeting on the internet, I completely understand the reason.

The current five-member Dewey Beach Town Council has two developer-endorsed members who are supported by the six mega-bars/restaurants and the proponents for the 68-foot hotel. The only reason we do not have skyscraper cranes lifting steel beams high in the air right now is because the two developer-endorsed commissioners do not have control of Dewey's Town Council. But they only need one more vote to have that control. A single vote will result in moving the cranes that are being used to erect the Indian River Inlet bridge directly to Ruddertowne.

We cannot let the Ruddertowne developer, Dewey Beach Enterprises, take control over the town council and a "single vote," also called a "bullet vote" will do just that.

I have never been so insulted by a campaign person asking me to only vote for one candidate and you should be too.

Vote for Marty Seitz and Jim Laird to keep and protect our 35-foot height limit, and allow the skyscraper cranes to move directly to ground zero to help build more casinos in Atlantic City.
