Obituary

CHRISTOPHER L. HAWKINS

Services were held Wednesday, Aug. 26, at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel in Summerville, SC for Christopher Leon "Chris" Hawkins, 33, Norwalk, who died Wednesday, Aug. 19 in a tragic accident on 1-35. Burial was at Dorchester Memory Gardens in Summerville. A celebration of life service was held Saturday, Aug. 29, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Urbandale.

Mr. Hawkins was born January 26, 1976 in Charleston, SC, son of Linda Carver Hawkins and the late Leon Frederick Hawkins. He was a graduate of Berkeley High School. He worked as an electrician's apprentice, and then became specialized in installation and sales of security systems. Mr. Hawkins spent a period of time traveling across numerous states to install security systems in National Guard armories.

While working in Iowa, he met his fiance, Heather Hoveland. She joined him in his work travels and they lived in Mississippi, Alabama and New Jersey before moving to Norwalk. Since October 2008, he had been employed as a security systems sales consultant for Security Equipment Incorporated in Urbandale.

Mr. Hawkins was extremely well-liked by all who met him. He respected and enjoyed people immensely and brought his polite southern manners wherever he went. He joined the local Business Network International organization and quickly rose to become president of the Referrals to Wealth Chapter. His greatest loves were his fiance, Heather, and his son, Logan, 11, who lives in the Charleston area.
