Sena will run for Council seat

Fort Sumner businessman Albert J. Sena announced his candidacy this week for the Fort Sumner Village Council.

Sena and his wife Geraldine have owned and operated Fort Sumner Concrete for the past 10 years and have owned Fort Sumner Monument since 1993.

A lifelong resident of Fort Sumner, Sena is a 1979 graduate of Fort Sumner High School. He got his start in construction working for K Barnett and Sons as a heavy equipment operator and was later promoted to supervisor of the company's crusher plant. For 17 years prior to starting his own business, he operated the Sam Sanders Gravel Pit in the Valley.

"As a businessman, I'm interested in helping bring more business to Fort Sumner," Sena said. "We can't let our community decline."

Sena is a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church and served on the Parish Council for four years, He is a charter member of the Knights of Columbus and served in various offices, including financial secretary.

The Senas have two children; Crystal, who lives in Arlington, TX and attends the University of Texas at Arlington; and Tim and his wife Misty, who live in Fort Sumner. Tim is employed by his parents in the monument company and Misty is employed at De Baca Family Practice Clinic.

"With my knowledge in the construction industry and as a Fort Sumner businessman, I have the experience to serve the citizens of Fort Sumner as a member of the Village Council," Sena said. "I believe I can help the Village make more efficient use of funds and equipment."
