Signing commemorated next week

The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Hannah Lee Chapter of Northeast Iowa, along with members world-wide, is promoting Constitution Week, Sept. 17-23, commemorating the signing of the

Constitution of the United States.

Church bells will ring at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, to mark the actual time of the signing of the document.

The U.S. Constitution is the oldest constitution still in active use in the world today. It is the basic document of our republic, protecting the individual liberties of all citizens through written law.

DAR

The DAR was founded in 1890 to promote patriotism, preserve American history and support better education for our nation's children. Its members are descended from the patriots who won American independence during the Revolutionary War.

With more than 165,000 members in approximately 3000 chapters world-wide, DAR is one of the world's largest and most active service organizations.
