John W. "Johnny" Weimorts, 82, went to be with the Lord, Monday, Aug. 17, 2009.
He was born in Ponce de Leon, Fla., but resided in Seminole, Ala. He was a Master Sergeant of the 361st Division Army Reserves. He retired after 47 years of military service.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Merle Weimorts; three children, John M. Weimorts (Sarah), Joe Weimorts (Lilia) and Teresa Whalen (Michael); five grandchildren, Marshall Weimorts (Paula), Jonathan Weimorts, Nicole Weimorts, Aliece Rockwell (David), Devin Dillard; six great-grandchildren, Austin and Kyle Weimorts, Jacob, Ben, Jeptha and Nathan Rockwell.
In lieu of flowers, donate to Wounded Women and Olive Baptist Church Ministry for the widows and orphans or Church of His Presence, 9789 Timber Drive, Spanish Fort, AL 36527.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home with Reverend Glen Vaughn officiating. Interment was at Barrancas National Cemetery.
Faith Chapel Funeral Home, 100 Beverly Parkway, was in charge of arrangements.
