Youth hunt set Dec. 4-5 at Cooks Lake site

White River National Wildlife Refuge, the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission, and the Arkansas Game & Fish Foundation will sponsor a special youth hunt at Cooks Lake during the 2010 hunting season.

The hunt will be held Dec. 4-5, with a mandatory orientation Nov. 27. Only 10 permits will be issued to youth 15 and under (as of Dec. 4,2010). Those selected for past hunts will not be selected for this year's hunt, as this is a one-time hunting opportunity. Each selected participant will be required to have an unarmed chaperone 21 or older. Treestands will be provided and installed by Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and Refuge staff. This event is free.

To apply for a youth hunt, print or type the youth appl icant's complete name, address, and phone number on the back of an official U.S. postcard. Send the postcard to White River National Wildlife Refuge, P.O. Box 205,St Charles, AR, 72140. Applications must be received by Oct. 15, 2010.
