Almyra man, 33, killed in wreck

An Almyra man was killed in a one-vehicle accident Saturday morning.

Clarence E.(C.J.)Capps Jr., was traveling eastbound on Arkansas 130 between Stuttgart and Al my ra around 5:16 a.m. Saturday when he lost control of his 2002 Chevrolet SC pickup.The truck veered off the road onto the shoulder, came back across the roadway, crossing both lanes. It then struck the ditch on the westbound side of the road and overturned before coming to rest facing southbound on Arkansas 130.

Capps was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in the vehicle, Savanna K. Smith, 25, of Stuttgart was pulled from the vehicle and transported to Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. She had apparently been pinned under Capps before emergency responded arrived at the scene.

Arkansas State Trooper Shawn R. Mason said neither Capps nor Smith were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
