Funeral services held August 27

Thomas Alan "Butch" King died unexpectedly at his home in Montgomery, on August 24, 2009. He was bom June 5, 1949 to the late Thomas N. and Mary Evelyn Pope King in Linden.

Funeral services were held at the Linden United Methodist Church of Linden on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Glen Butler and Rev. Ray Bass officiating. Burial will be in the Linden Memorial Park in Linden. O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden directed.

He is survived by: his wife, Elizabeth; one daughter, Karla King of Daphne; two sons, Everett Madden III of Tuscaloosa and Aaron Madden of Montgomery; three grandchildren, Max, Maya, Harlowe; his double first cousin, Shirley King Scarbrough of Montgomery; and his beloved Boston Terriers "Lily" and "Louie".

Mr. King recently retired from the State of Alabama following thirty-four years of service with the Departments of Mental Health and Human Resources. He was a native of Linden and a graduate of Linden High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama and a Master of Science degree from Troy University in Montgomery. He was a member of the Gulf Shores United Methodist Church in Gulf Shores, where he and his wife maintain a second home.

Pallbearers were: James Hudgens, James Pritchett, Joe Massey, Ben Monroe, Nick Smith and Preston Hornsby.

Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Children's Home, 1712 Broad Street, Selma, Al 36701. or to the Alabama Boston Terrier Rescue in care of Evelyn Bibb, 427 County Road 281, Courtland, al 35618, or to the charity of your choice.
