Funeral services held September 1

Doris Ree Pugh DeWitt, age 84, of Thomasville died Friday, August 28, 2009, at Fair Haven Nursing Home in Birmingham.

Funeral services were held at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Dr. James Best and Rev. Ty Parten officiating. Burial was in the Choctaw Comer Cemetery in Thomasville. O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville directing.

She is survived by a son, Stanley Earl "Stan" DeWitt; two granddaughters, Sarah Elizabeth DeWitt and Sally Rebecca DeWitt; a grandson, Stanley Wilson "Will" DeWitt; her grandchildren's mother, Sally Wilson DeWitt; two nephews, Joseph Newton and Doug Pugh; two nieces, Sandra Counselman and Suzanne McCullar; numerous cousins.

She was bom in Tallahatta Springs on July 19, 1925. She was the office manager for Bruce Cogle Ford Dealership in Thomasville and she was a member of Thomasville Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Howard "Bear" DeWitt.

Active pallbearers were Doug Pugh, Joe Newton, Kenny Counselman, Phillip Counselman, Hayden Pugh and Jimmy Moore.

Honorary pallbearers were the T.E.L./Elect Ladies Sunday School Class at Thomasville Baptist Church.
