Funeral services held August 28

Laura Jean Wiginton Scott, age 83, of Linden passed away Monday, August 24, 2009 at her home. She was a native of Birmingham. She was a long time teacher and a member of the Linden United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden on Friday, August 28, 2009 at 3:00 PM with Thomas H. Boggs, Jr. officiating. Burial was in the Linden Memorial Park in Linden. O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden directing.

She is survived by two daughters; Ann Scott (L.M.) Yelverton of Linden and Sharon Scott McKnight (Keith Richard) of Charlotte, NC.; one sister, Mary Emily Hudson of Columbus, GA.; three sister-in-laws, Mary Ann Scott of Mobile, Lee Scott of Birmingham, and Betty Joyce Wiginton of Huntsville; one brother-in-law, Roberts Scott of Birmingham; two granddaughters, Lee Ann Yelverton and Lauren Yelverton both of Tuscaloosa; two grandsons, Scott (Carolyn) McKnight of Pensacola, FL. and Thomas (Kate) McKnight of Birmingham; two great grandsons, Lawson Moore McKnight of Birmingham and Robert Camp McKnight of Pensacola, Fl.

She was preceded in death by her husband William "Bill" Warren Scott on January 11, 2009.

Active pallbearers were Terry Barr, Wayne Lewis, Tommy Miller, Keith Richard, L. M. Yelverton, Mike Robison, Eugene Carter, and Dennis Mason.

Honorary pallbearers were The Employees of the First Bank of Linden, Paul Owensby, Burnette Thomas, and Beatrice McGhee.

Memorials may be made to The Linden United Methodist Church or to Marengo Academy.
