Employers with jobs to offer should sign up now to participate in the upcoming county-wide job fair.

Wharton and El Campo take turns hosting the now-annual event, and last year's county job fair was held in El Campo.

The 2010 Wharton County Job Fair will be held from 9 am. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16 at the Wharton Civic Center, 1924 N. Fulton in Wharton.

"This is a great opportunity for any employer in Wharton County to take advantage of a free marketing tool for their company," said Chandra Spen-rath, executive director of the City Development Corp. of El Campo, one of the event's sponsors.

"Often, employed and unemployed people will attend this event to learn more about companies in our area. People who are ready for a career change now or in the future will be attending," she said. "Wharton County has a lot of strong talent in our workforce. With over 1,000 people moving to Texas daily, it is a great time to market your company to potential employees."

Admission is free for those looking for work. Job seekers should dress professionally, bring resumes and be prepared to be interviewed on the spot.

Free booth space is available for employers and recruiters. Booths are 10 feet by 6 feet, and include a rectangular table and two chairs.

To register for a booth, employers should contact Wharton Economic Development Corp. at wedcl@sbcglobal.net or 979-532-0999.

The 2010 job fair is sponsored by the Wharton and El Campo chambers of commerce, the economic development agencies of both towns, the city of Wharton, Wharton ISD, Wharton County Junior College, Worksource Solutions and the University of Houston's Small Business Development Center.

Set up time starts at 8 a.m. and refreshments, snacks and a light lunch will be provided to exhibitors.
