West Central teachers have participated in the Professional Development Center (PDC) for nearly a decade. The PDC allows experienced teachers the opportunity to continue their education while mentoring novice teachers in the district who are also pursuing an advanced degree. The mentor teacher will take on a district project while assisting the mentees during their first year in the classroom. This year our district will have one mentor teacher and two mentee teachers.

Jessica Quail will be stepping out of her Middle School Special Education classroom this year to be a mentor teacher. She has been teaching in the district for six years and is a former PDC mentee herself. She is working toward her Specialist degree in Administration of Special Education Programs. Jessica will also be interning under the Director of Special Services.

Nicole Hoiten will be stepping into the Middle School Special Education classroom for the upcoming school year. Nicole earned, her Elementary and Special Education degree through Dakota State University in December 2008, and is currently working on her Masters degree as a Reading Specialist.

Megan Becker will be teaching in a third grade classroom at Hartford Elementary School during the 2009-2010 school year. Megan is a graduate of Dakota State University with a degree in Elementary and Special Education, with a technology endorsement and a reading minor. She is currently working on her Reading Specialist degree through the PDC program at USD.
