The Hidalgo County Democratic Party met on Sunday April 11th in the Hidalgo conference room at the Hampton Inn in Lordsburg to commence the unity of all Democrats.

The party board welcomed all citizens and candidates attending the meeting. Chairman Robert C. Parra started off by stating that this was going to be an exciting year, as we were faced, not only with the local elections, but with the gubernatorial election as well. Parra emphasized on the importance of working hard together to elect Democrats in our local and state office levels, and to regain other positions such as the Land Commissioner Office. He also said that we need to maintain a strong Democratic ticket in order to succeed this year in keeping New Mexico Blue.

Parra also said that State Chairman, Javier Gonzales, and other state candidates were overwhelmed to learn that Hidalgo County had activated the party, during the Pre-Primary Convention held in Santa Fe on March 13th 2010. All state candidates have expressed interest in visiting Hidalgo County during their campaign trail.

Another item discussed on the agenda was the upcoming Hidalgo County Democratic Party fund raiser/meet the candidates cook out scheduled for this Saturday April 17th 2010 at North Park from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The Party Board opened it up for discussion, ideas, and suggestions from respective attendees. The Party Board has received confirmation of attendance for the fund raiser from the majority of our state and local candidates.

Other items discussed were near future fund raisers, meetings, and a possible public forum for our local candidates. The Board stated that although we had a small crowd of attendees, the meeting was very productive and motivational. Mr. Parra expresses his appreciation to the governing board members, delegates, and alternates for their hard work, 'professionalism, and dedication to the party. The Board also expresses their appreciation to the participating democrats who attended the meeting to include the following candidates; Theodoro Castillo, David Ramos, Martina Elias, Rogelio Villa IV, Tommy Ray Lopez, and Larry Martinez.

The Hidalgo County Democratic Party Board would like to per-. sonally invite all democrats and public to attend our fund raiser/meet the candidates (local and state) cook-out on Saturday April 17th at North Park from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

By uniting together, we are certain that our Party will work together in having a successful year in keeping New Mexico Blue.
