Martin B. Unger of Orlando, Fla., died on Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, following a lengthy illness. He was 60 years old.

Mr. Unger was born in New York City on Oct. 28, 1948 to the late Samuel Bernard Unger and Ann (nee Riefman) Unger. Following-graduation from Rutgers University Law school, he served in the Air Force, attaining the rank of captain. Mr. Unger devoted much of his more-than-three decade career to representing medical professionals. Those who knew him said that his ability to establish a rapport with jurors and to explain complex medical issues made him one of the most successful and sought-after trial lawyers in Florida. In recent years he was regularly honored by hospitals and medical associations for his dedication in assisting the medical community.

An avid collector of "things notorized," he was a pilot and a boat and car buff. Loved ones said he was equally enthusiastic about history and the importance of honoring the memory of those who suffered the horrors of war, and respecting those who sacrificed to protect others from those horrors.

Mr. Unger is survived by his wife, Audrey, of Orlando; son, Mark, of Orlando; daughter Nicole (Tod) Ellington, of Orlando; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Congregation of Reform Judaism on Monday, Aug. 24 with Rabbi Steven Engel and Cantor Jacqueline Rawiszer officiating, followed by interment with military honors at Glen Haven Memorial Park.

Donations in memory of Mr. Unger may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, P.O. Box 780, Church Street Station, New York, N.Y. 10008-0780.

Services were entrusted to Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, Orlando.
