Luling woman dies in Mustang Ridge collision

A 37-year-old Luling woman was killed Tuesday morning in a head-on collision in Mustang Ridge, a small community south of Texas 45 Southeast toll road near the Hays and Travis County border.

Petra Arnold was driving a Dodge Ram pickup northbound at the block of 13600 on U.S. 183 and collided with another pickup heading south around 6 a.m., a Mustang Ridge police officer says. Arnold was pronounced dead on the scene.

A sedan, also heading southbound, then rear-ended the other pickup. Five other adults suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries in the three-vehicle crash, police say.

The site of the crash, about a quarter mile from the Mustang Ridge police station, aided to the quick response, police say.

The injured were transported to Brackenridge Hospital by STAR Flight helicopter, Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services and Caldwell County Emergency Medical Services crews, said Warren Hassinger, spokesman for AT-CEMS.

As of press time, authorities had not yet determined the cause of tiie crash.
