Qualifying for Hogansville City Council seats began with a bang Monday morning.

Andy Brubaker qualified to run for mayor and incumbent council member Bobby Joe Frazier qualified for a council seat.

Incumbent council member Charlie Frank Martin did not immediately qualify, but did obtain the required paperwork for qualifying.

This action transpired before noon Monday and no further report was available prior to press time, though speculation was rife with the possibility of additional candidates for the Hogansville City Council.

In addition to the mayor's seat, council seats of Frazier and Martin are up for election this year. The seats are voted "at large" which means the two people garnering the most votes win the seats.

Qualifying for any of the seats ends at 4:30 p.m. Friday, September 4.

The last day to register to vote in the Hogansville municipal election is October 5.

Those wishing to register to vote must do so at the Troup County Registrar's Office.
