Marshalls arrest fugitive in North Carolina

A man wanted by the Horry County Police Department in connection with a 2009 armed robbery in Aynor was arrested on Tuesday by the Marshall Service.

Antonio G. Gilbert, 33, of Bennettsville is charged with assault and battery with intent to kill, armed robbery and kidnapping.

Agents with the U.S. Marshall Service responded to the Greensboro Public Library early this morning after receiving information obtained from America's Most Wanted.

Upon their arrival, they located and arrested Antonio Gilbert, who is in Greensboro, N.C., awaiting extradition.

Gilbert was wanted in connection with an armed robbeiy at Martin's Place June 17, 2009.

In the incident, one victim was bound with a nylon cord, and then stabbed multiple times, including his left eye.

Gilbert has a record in Horry County from 2005 when his address was listed as Mullins.

Gilbert pleaded guilty in January of 2005 to assault and battery high and aggravated nature and burglary, non-violent. According to the Horry County public index, he was sentenced to eight years in prison to run concurrently with the five-year term he was already serving. A kidnapping charge was dismissed at the same time.

Kimberly O'Neil, 41, of the 1000 block of Holt Road, Conway and a juvenile male suspect were arrested in connection with the incident in June of 2009.

O'Neil is charged with armed robbeiy, kidnapping, assault and battery with intent to kill and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Bonds were not set for her and she remains incarcerated at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
