Grant offers help to homeless students

The Horry County School District has been awarded a $29,654 grant from the S.C. Department of Education through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which provided funding under the McKinney-Vento Education for Homeless Children and Youth program.

The grant will enable the district to work closely with local homeless shelters and agencies to provide supplies and tutoring to students at shelters and to offer parenting classes for parents of homeless students.
