ICOs website gets a makeover
For the first time since, well, probably the dawn of the Internet, the Independent Coast Observer has completely renovated its website.
The website is still www.mendonoma.com and will officially launch Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010. (Drop-in web surfers may have previewed the site in the past week.)
The new site includes an unscientific, but fairly interesting, poll. The question this month is "How do you connect to the Internet?" Results as they develop are visible to visitors (one vote each, please), and will also appear in the paper edition of the ICO each month.
Special on-line features include:
Annual tide tables for the Mendonoma Coast
Selected color photos from the ICO including "Mendonoma Sightings"
The week's classified ads
Access to archived copies of past ICO issues
Useful area information including area schools, bus service, medical services, recycling and disposal information, local churches, dog leash laws, link to bus schedules, airstrip information and more.
Mark Your Calendar items for the current week and beyond.
Www.mendonoma.com also includes:
Hourly local, national and international weather
Link to California highway conditions
Correct time accurate to the second
Monthly Quick Poll on local and other subjects of interest
History of the ICO "Meet the Staff'
Contact information for staff and departments
Advertising rates and size specifications
What kind of news do we publish
Where to send and submit news, and online form for submitting Mark Your Calendar items
Submittal deadlines for all sections
Where to get the ICO and how to subscribe.
Will there be news from the Independent Coast Observer on the website? ICO Editor and Publisher Steve McLaughlin's curmudgeonly answer: "We publish a newspaper for that. Our ICO mail subscribers and newsstand buyers come first. Their purchase of the paper and the support from our advertisers make the ICO possible every week, and we plan to keep publishing a long time."
The new ICO webmaster is Drew Fagan.
