County Roads Dept., 86

Bill Kinyon, 86, passed away quietly May 30, 2010, surrounded by family.

Born on July 3, 1923, in McArthur, Calif., Bill lived his entire life in Fall River Valley.

He worked as a butcher at the Fall River Meat Company, a mechanic at Meeker's service station and drove logging truck for J.J. Bartle.

In the early 1950s, Bill went to work for the Shasta County Roads Department where he worked until 1990, retiring as the foreman for Eastern Shasta County.

In 1943, Bill married his high school sweetheart, Bette Bassett, and raised a family in Fall River Mills.

In 1971 they bought Sam's Pizza in Johnson Park, which they owned and operated for the next 19 years.

They were constant supporters of community youth activities. Bill enjoyed golf, camping, fishing, and hunting.

He enjoyed the many wonderful hunting trips he took to Wyoming with his son and grandsons.

After 54 loving years of marriage, he was preceded in death by Bette, but his devotion and love never waivered.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter Suzanne.

His final years were spent with "Sheila" his faithful dog riding in the golf cart visiting with neighbors.

He is survived by daughter, Diane of Redding, son Bill of Stockton, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial will be held at a later date.
