The 2009 winner of the Andy Peek Memorial Intermountain Fair Junior Livestock Steer Carcass Contest is sixteen year old Robyn Garner, a member of the Hat Creek 4-H Club. She purchased her steer from Henry and Pam Giacomini of Hat Creek. The steer weighed 1260 lbs, graded choice and was a yield grade 2.5.

The Fall River Big-Valley Cattlemen's Association named their annual Junior Livestock steer carcass contest in memory of Andy Peek, former 'general manager of both Shasta Livestock in Cottonwood and Western Video Market. Kathy DeForest (of Adin, CA) chaired the committee charged with determining a fitting tribute to this bellwether of the livestock business. In her words, "Andy was a longstanding industry leader who stuck with producers through good times and bad. He was supportive of youth and education. Naming our Junior Livestock steer carcass educational program in his memory seemed like a fitting tribute."

For the 2009 contest all of the steers were ultra-sounded and a silent bid jackpot contest was held for adults to test their ability to determine the top carcass steer. Garner was awarded a trophy buckle and a check for $100. Winners of the adult jackpot contest were Henry Giacomini, Hat Creek, CA (1st) and Haunani Spencer, Hat Creek, CA (2nd). Peek's wife, Rhonda and son, Mason presented the buckle to Robyn at the educational meeting held at the Intermountain Fairgrounds in McArthur on October 5, 2009.
