Innovative companies create community pride

Innovation is alive and well in the Issaquah business community. The Issaquah Chamber of Commerce presented awards to the top three nominees from a field of 23 companies and nonprofit organizations at its monthly luncheon last week to kick off its Innovation in Issaquah program, celebrating businesses that demonstrate innovative strategies in services, products or practices. The winners are relatively unknown businesses in Issaquah, yet all three are making a difference globally. All three will elevate Issaquah as a great place to do business, well beyond the storefront. The winners include:

? Democracy Live, which provides electronic voting solutions to more than 200 election jurisdictions across America, and recently signed a contract with the Department of Defense to provide voting solutions for overseas soldiers.

? Applied Precision, a leader in the life sciences and high-end microscopy imaging industries, helping health care researchers peer into sub-cellular systems so they can perform vital health care and health diagnostic research.

? Restorix Health, a comprehensive health care delivery center specializing in providing advanced wound care therapies for a variety of chronic wounds.

Shirey Contracting's Zero Energy Idea House received an honorable mention, and Eastside Baby Corner was named best innovative nonprofit agency.

Issaquah is no stranger to innovation in its business community, but seeking the true pioneers in the office parks, office buildings, shopping centers and home-based businesses has moved to the forefront with the chamber's effort, in partnership with the city of Issaquah.

The Issaquah Press will profile each of these three honored companies in the coming weeks as we share their stories of inspiration, spreading the pride of Issaquah.
