BROOKLYN CENTER -- Public and private sector leaders from across the state met Monday, September 14th for an H1N1 Pandemic Summit at Carriage Hall at the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Center.

The purpose of the summit was to share the latest information about the H1N1 pandemic threat and equip participants with resources for effectively responding to the threat.

At the summit, Minnesota Commissioner of Health Dr. Sanne Magnan; along with Minnesota State Epidemiologist Dr. Ruth Lynfield and Dr. Michael Osterholm of the University of Minnesota Center for Infectious Disease, Research and Policy presented opening remarks at the start of the summit.

Numerous other officials also presented on specific topics including vaccine and anti viral distribution, impact on schools, medical surge capacity and continuity of operations during a pandemic.

Since the outbreak of the novel H1N1 influenza virus last spring, Minnesota officials have been developing plans to respond to a more serious outbreak of H1N1 this fall.

"As the state moves from planning to response, it is important to convene critical partners to discuss the current H1N1 situation and share resources for responding effectively," said Magnan.
