Louisiana Lions District 8-I Governor, Bob Hollingsworth, along with Zone Chairman Lion Jackie Honeycutt, visited the Jena Lions Club on August 20th at their regular monthly meeting. Everyone was treated to good food, fellowship, and a special program.

Addressing the Club that night was Tyler Meredith and his mother, Jennifer Anderson. The Jena Lions Club sponsored Tyler to the Louisiana Lions Children's Camp in Leesville this past summer along with several other children from LaSalle Parish. Tyler expressed to the Club how much fun he had at the camp and how much he enjoyed the activities that week. He also brought along the trophy he was presented at the closing camp ceremony for being the "Most Improved Camper" for the session. He is anxious to attend Camp next summer. His mother expressed to the Club her appreciation to the Lions and especially the Jena Lions Club for sponsoring Tyler to the camp.

The Jena Lions Club is dedicated to serving youth and citizens of LaSalle Parish. Our motto is "We Serve". Along with sponsoring several children with special needs to the Louisiana Lions Camp since their Charter in the year 2000, The Jena Lions have provided quality eye care and glasses to several adults and children in need. They also participate and sponsor CubSight, aide fire victims, give scholarships, and assist in many other efforts to help persons of our community and across the world.

The Jena Lions would like to thank everyone who has ever contributed in the past either by purchasing raffle tickets, throwing money in the buckets at our annual bucket brigades, or contributions you have made to any other fund-raising events we have held in the past. All donations and fund raising funds received from the community goes back into our community in service to others. We thank you for your support of this Club's efforts to assist wherever there is a need.

The Jena Lions Club is always seeking new membership of persons willing to serve those in need. Our Club meets the third Thursday of every month to fellowship and conduct business. If you are interested in becoming a member, please contact any of the Lions pictured above for an invitation to our next Club meeting or call Lion Terry Edwards, Jena Lions Club President at 318-992-8134 or 452-7767.
