Ella Mae Strader

Ella Mae (Drew) Strader, 74, formerly of Argonia, Kansas, passed away peacefully with her family at her side in Lenexa, KS on Saturday, August 21, 2010.

Ella was born October .21, 1935, to Lewis and Naomi (Fox) Drew in Gravett, Arizona.

She married her husband, Carl Strader, on October 31, 1954, and they shared their lives together for 45 years in Wichita and Argonia. She worked as a secretary for the Wichita Board of Education for 25 years. Ella Mae was passionate about her family, friends, genealogy, animals and Wichita State University basketball.

For the last eleven years, she has lived near her daughter and family in the Kansas City area. In the last seven years of her life, she became an active member of the Delmar Gardens care center community and grew to love her new home in Lenexa, KS.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl R. Strader and her parents, Lewis and Naomi (Fok>)- > Drew.

She is survived by her daughter, Elaine S. Johnson, son-in-law, David O. Johnson; grandson,

Drew Johnson and wife, Carolyn of Hartford, CT; and granddaughter, Margan Johnson of Leawood, KS; sister, Louise Parks and husband, Mel of Bellflower, MO; brothers, Dallas Drew and wife Judy of Wichita, KS; and Tom Drew and wife, Donna of McCloud, OK; sisters-in-law,

Anna Hill of Gerald Plains, KS and Vesta Strader of Bucklin, KS; many loved nieces, nephews, friends and family.

Ella Mae will be remembered for her love and compassion for others, and her willingness to give a helping hand.

Funeral services were held Friday, August 27 at

10:30 a.m. in Argonia, KS at the Argonia Methodist Church with Pastor Robbie Fall officiating. Karen Drummond sang "How Great Thou Art",

"Amazing Grace", and "On Eagles Wings" accompanied by Rhonda Mock. Interment followed at the Argonia Cemetery.

Memorials are established with the Argonia United Methodist Church or the Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care, 9221 Ward Parkway,

Suite 100, Kansas City, MO 64114.

Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Harper was in charge of the arrangements.
