The Courtland City Council discussed development plans and budget at its monthly meeting September 2, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Pat Stadick stopped in to talk about development plans for the end of Wishbone Way and Dobie Drive The council enumerated a number of concerns members have heard from citizens around town, the main one being an increase in traffic.

Stadick stated that the storage facilities would probably cause less traffic than if housing units were put in. He also noted that they have no intention of allowing retail businesses in the storage zone. The main goal of the storage units is to provide a small buffer zone between the residential area and the industrial zone.

The council was informed that Frank Kilibarda hopes to start a new development area on River View Drive. Kilibarda wants to survey this fall and put up a spec house in the spring. The council noted that he should talk to the planning and zoning commission at its next meeting.

The rest of the council meeting was devoted to budget work, a task that was not finished when the meeting adjourned at 10:30 p.m. The council decided to hold a special meeting September 9 at 5:30 p.m. to finish the budget proposal for 2011.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for October 7 at 7:00 p.m.
