WHITNEY - Sometime Monday evening, Dec. 28, or early Tuesday, Dec. 29, Neese Welding Shop on Hwy. 22 west of Whitney was broken into and several large items were stolen. The shop is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the theft.

Rob Sosebee came to work that Tuesday morning to find both shop doors wide open. He called his brother, Mike Sosebee, who said he had not been in the shop that morning. Sosebee said he then called the Hill County Sheriff's office to report the crime.

Sosebee said the suspects gained entrance by kicking in a roll-up door at the back of the shop. He said the thieves then rounded up a Kawasaki 65 cc dirt bike, a roll-away tool box loaded with tools, welding leads, and a Hitachi jack hammer.

"There was a lot of stuff in the way and they couldn't get the items out the back door, so they moved everything and opened the front doors to load up," Sosebee said.

The doors at the front of the shop face Highway 22 so there's a possibility someone can help identify the thieves vehicle.

Sosebee said that as of Monday he was unaware of any leads the sheriff's department was following, but added he has an idea who might be responsible.

Anyone with information on the break-in is urged to contact Mike Sosebee at 254-694-2274 or Milton Neese at 254-694-3013.
