Planning gears up for ex-students gathering

WHITNEY - The 2009 Whitney Ex-Student Association reunion meeting and luncheon is scheduled Saturday, Oct. 10. Graduating classes to be honored this year include the Classes of 1949, 1959, and 1984.

The day starts from 8-8:30 a.m. with coffee and donuts at the WHS cafeteria, and registration from 8:45-9 a.m.

The morning's program gets underway at 9:30 a.m. and includes "the usual business topics and reports, as well as special prizes and door prizes," said a spokesman.

Dick McMahan will be the guest speaker. A WHS graduate and author, McMahan is a Hill County historian, and will speak about the are's rich history.

Entertainment at the event will be provided by the country-and-western band, "The Country Swing Timers."

Also during the program, special recognitions will be presented, along with the election ofofficersfor2009-10.

A lunch catered by Hal's Diner serves at 12 noon, featuring barbecue and all the fixings. Cost of the meal is $9 at the door, with children ages four-12 eating for half price.
