AQUILLA - Aquilla's varsity football team shut out Happy Hills 50-0 on Friday, Aug. 28, with the game stopped at halftime due to the mercy rule.

Zach Tadlock set the tone for offensive control when he shot out 62 yards down the field to score the first touchdown of the game. This began a five-TD first quarter for the Cougars. On Friday, Sept. 4, the Varsity Cougars traveled to Jonesboro, enduring two 30-minute delays due to surrounding lightning, before earning a 48-0 victory over the Eagles.

Jeremy Heathcott scored from 45 yards out with two seconds left in the first period as the Cougars jumped out to a 20-0 lead. After the second weather delay, Tadlock ran 63 yards for a TD, bringing the score to 42-0 with just under four minutes left in the first half. Tadlock also scored the final touchdown with a 30-yard run.

Aquilla hosted Walnut Springs last Friday, then head to Morgan this Friday for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff against the Eagles
