LAKE WHITNEY - Saturday, Sept. 25, is National Public Lands Day. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers would like to invite everyone to join volunteers of all ages in planting trees, repairing facilities, lake-shore clean-up, and more at Lake Whitney.

All participants will receive a free pass for a day use visit or boat launch and enjoy a hot dog

lunch after the clean-up. School groups, PTAs, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, little league teams, and individual volunteers have aided the efforts in years past to make Lake Whitney a nicer place to visit.

Participants should report to the McCown Valley Campground Group Shelter from 8 a.m.-12 noon. For more information, contact Brad Ellis or Tennille Hammonds at 254-622-3332.
