Janet Evelyn Ball-Baston

Janet E. (Evelyn) Ball-Baston died peacefully at home at her ranch house near Deaver on Aug. 12, 2009.

Janet was born in Laramie on Sept. 13, 1941. She attended the Laramie public school system, graduating from high school in 1959. Evelyn attained honors in all aspects of her school functions with academic achievements through participation in school extracurricular activities including band. She was selected to represent Laramie High School at Wyoming Girls State in 1958. In her senior year she was selected as a recipient of the IBM National Merit Scholarship.

Evelyn was married in 1959 to Forest Baston. She attended the University of Wyoming honors program as a dual major in mathematics and music, graduating with a BA from the UW School of Arts and Sciences in 1962.

Concurrent with her schooling she bore three children. The family moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, in 1966. Evelyn attended the graduate program in applied mathematics at Idaho State University and received her master's degree in 1972.

Evelyn worked as a professional mathematician at the Idaho National Laboratory for several years. She attended the University of Virginia Darden School of Business and received her MBA in 1986.

Evelyn worked as a professional with several organizations in the California Silicon Valley, with her last association being with Applied Materials in Santa Clara, Calif.

She is survived by husband V.F. Baston and children Patricia, Alan and Linda. All of her children are married and living out of state.
