Visitation was held Sunday, August
29, at the Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley.
Gordon Bly, age 72, of Red Wing, Minnesota, died Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at St. Marys Hospital in
Rochester, where he had been a patient for a little over a week.
He was born July 23, 1938 to Teft and Irene (Shaw) Bly in Spring Valley. He attended school in Princeton, Minnesota and was united in marriage to Rachel Clouse on November
30, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois. After they married, they lived in Spring Valley where over the years Gordon worked for the Hannah Mining Co., farmed, worked for Woodrich Construction and Jennings Scrap Yard. In 1980 they moved to Minot, N.D. where he worked for Porter Bros. Nine years later they moved to Escondido, California, where Gordon worked on an avocado ranch. In 1991, Gordon and Rachel moved to Reno, Nevada, and in 2005 they moved back to Minnesota where he worked for LeRoy Iron and Metal and operated Pig & Wings Barbeque. He enjoyed traveling, camping, cooking, cutting wood and fixing, designing and creating things.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel Bly of Red Wing, Minn., his children, Tim (Tracy) Bly of LeRoy and Susan Bly of Colorado, Springs, Colo.; six grandchildren, Nick, Lindsay, Mitch, Sam, Jamie, and Torrie; and two great-grandchildren, Scott and Andrew. He is also survived by his mother, Irene Bly of Mesa, Arizona and siblings David (Cathy) Bly of Sierra Vista, Arizona and Judy (Gael) Hughes of Granite Bay, Calif. He was preceded in death by his father and his son, Mike Bly.
