August 31, an off-duty Whitman County Sheriffs Deputy spotted a man by the name of Clifford Charles Pluff, age 31, at the Tekoa City Pool about 3 p.m.

The deputy had been informed previously that Pluff was wanted by U.S. Marshalls for an escape from Geiger Correctional Facility near Spokane and alerted the sheriffs office. Before other deputies could arrive for backup, Pluff left the pool and headed for his car. The off-duty officer approached Pluff, identified himself, and told him he was under arrest.

At that point, Pluff ran from the deputy and though an extensive search was conducted, Pluff was not found.

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Clifford Charles Pluff is asked to call the Whitman County Sheriffs Office, or their local law enforcement agency.
