The 72nd annual meeting of the Clearwater Power Company was held November 6 at the Red Lion Seaport Club in Lewiston. A delicious meal was served to the staff and members of the co-operative electrical supplier, followed by reports of the yearly business handled by the company.

It was stated that 42 percent of the cost of electrical power is the wholesale cost from Bonneville Power Co., the co-op's main supplier, which has raised it's rates 7 percent this year. Other cost increases include labor, insurance, depreciation and governmental regulatory issues. The last time rates were increased by CPC was in August 2003 and they have done their best to cut costs wherever possible. But still higher costs will force an increase starting in January. The amount of this increase will be announced in the Ruralite, the company's monthly magazine and business report.

Members of the co-op with questions about the services offered by the company, including electrical power, Wild Blue internet service or the company store were invited to contact the company either by telephone or in person at their headquarters office in Lewiston.

At several points during the afternoon, over 30 door prizes were awarded to members of the co-op, some of which were bought by the co-op and others donated by area businesses. The two most valuable prizes were a certificate for $150 credit on a power bill, which went to Gloria Tietes. A $300 power credit certificate was won by Jim and Charlotte Petri.
