AMES -- The Iowa Sports Foundation (ISF) will host the 2009 Flag Football State Championship on Oct. 24-25. The tournament will be held on the campus of Iowa State University, in the shadow of Jack Trice Stadium at the Southeast Athletic Complex.

Over the past five years, the Summer Iowa Games flag football tournament has consistently featured over 20 teams and more than 300 athletes. With the growth and popularity of adult flag football leagues, the Iowa Sports Foundation Flag Football State Championship will feature some of the top adult flag football athletes in the state.

"The ISF is excited to offer this first time event," commented Iowa Sports Foundation Director of Sports and Operations, Kevin Bourke. "Flag football has continued to be a popular sport in the Summer Iowa Games. We are confident this tournament will produce a true Flag Football State Champion."

The tournament format is 7 vs. 7 and will be bracketed as a double elimination tournament.

More complete tournament details, rules, and downloadable entry forms are available online at the ISF Web site. Log on to www.iowasportsfoundation.org Early registration is recommended as it's limited to 32 teams. Early registration deadline must be done online or postmarked by Monday, Oct. 5.
