NEMO Workforce Investment Board recognizes Regions Individual Achievement Award winners

Senator Wes Shoemyer was present to help the Northeast Missouri (NEMO) Workforce Investment Board recognize the following Individual Achievement Award Winners in a special ceremony during their Aug. 19 board meeting. These individuals, while supporting their families, overcame significant barriers to become productively employed by utilizing Missouri's Workforce Development System. They were provided services through a variety of agencies including Gamm, Inc. and Boonslick Regional Planning Commission, subcontractors of the NEMO Workforce Investment Board, Division of Workforce Development and Family Support Division. Senator Shoemyer congratulated the Award Winners for taking hold of an opportunity and achieving success. He said that others had invested in their lives, and he challenged the award recipients to remember this investment and to remember to give back. Each Award Winner was presented a plaque in recognition of their achievement of successfully completing the workforce training programs.

Melissa Stacks, of Hawk Point, was selected as the Individual Achievement Award Winner from the Missouri Career Center-Warrenton. Melissa received a certificate as a Surgical Technician from Allied Technical College and is currently employed as a Surgical Technician at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in Chesterfield.

Mindy Breid, of Madison, was selected as the Individual Achievement Award Winner from the Missouri Career Center-Moberly. Mindy received her Associate Degree in Business and Office from Moberly Area Community College and is currently employed as a Consultant for the Career Assistance Program by Gamm, Inc. and works at the Missouri Career Center-Moberly in Moberly.

David Winters, of Hannibal, was selected as the Individual Achievement Award Winner from the Missouri Career Center-Hannibal. After moving to the area, David had many struggles finding employment. Through this time, David volunteered as a painter at the Missouri Career Center-Hannibal positively mentoring those he encountered. David is currently employed at Walmart in Hannibal.

Vernon Hutchinson, of Union-ville, was selected as the Individual Achievement Award Winner from the Missouri Career Center-Kirksville. Vernon received his Associate Degree in Machine Technology from Indian Hills Community College. Vernon is currently employed as a Machinist and works for Reid-Fleming Industrial in St. James.
