Club and associate members of the Monroe County Republican Club met on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at noon, at Republican Headquarters, in Paris, for their monthy meeting, luncheon, and program.

The meeting was opened with a blessing prayer given by Ken Narveson. A buffet lunch was »enjoyed by all members consisting of a variety of dishes carried in by club members.

Following lunch the business meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States of America. The devotional was given by Jane Wilsdorf taken from Ideals Magazine and entitled In God We Trust. The bible verse was taken from Phillipians 4-11. Reports given by the secretary and Treasurer were approved as read. Several topics of discussion took place with health care taking up most of the discussion. The club remembered a long time devoted member of our club, Mildred Howe, who recently passed away after celebrating her 100th birthday on April 18. A poem and tribute written by Mildreds son-in-law, Jim Shanks, was recited by Jane Wilsdorf. The poem was titled, "An Angel's Hundred Seasons, and was an original, wonderful, true to life poem depicting Mildred Chapman Howes life. The club is in the process of purchasing several childrens books which will be presented to Holliday school in honor of Mildred and her many years as a devoted teacher.

The next scheduled meeting will be on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at noon, at Republican Headquarters, 120 West Monroe Street, in Paris, at which time members will exchange and express their views on current events. All interested folks are invited to attend and enjoy good food and fellowship. The club welcomes several couples who have joined in the past several months.
