Marguerite Butler KINNEY

Marguerite Butler Kinney (Grammy) was born October 19, 1916 to Albert and Ida Hart Butler in a logging camp outside of Kelso, Washington. She went to our Lord at the age of 93 plus on September 8, 2010 in Hawthorne, NV. .

Marguerite married Virgel Wesley Kinney on October 14, 1939. They had three children, twins Leona and Norma and son Fred Kinney.

Preceding her in death are her husband, Virgel, son Fred and great-granddaughter Rachel Brown, parents Albert and Ida Butler, and sisters Marie Runnion and Cleo Barn-hardt.

Surviving is her older sister, Leona Brown of Port Townsend, Washington; daughters, Norma Tomlinson of Hawthorne and Leona (John) Piscov-ich of Reno, NV; grandchildren, Donna (Grant) Dupree, Dolores (Tom) Gallegos, Bonnie Mc-Connell (Robert Elsasser) of Hawthorne, NV, Kristin (Chris) VonTickner of Yreka, CA, and Brian (Wendy) Kinney of Long Beach, CA; great-grandchildren, Russell (Patty) Hall, Danielle (Sammy) Scarlata, Shasta Brown (Andrew Townsend), Dillon Brown, Nathan Du-Pree, Natausha DuPree, Amanda Gallegos (Wade Baldry), Thomas Gallegos, Anthony Gallegos, Brad McConnell, Megan McConnell, Katelyn Von Tickner, Kyle Von Tick-ner, and Samuel Kinney; and great-great-grandchildren: Logan Galvin-Hall, Landon Scarlata, Michael Jorgenson, Lilli-anna Hall (born on Marguerite's birthday 2008) and honorary Sofia and Alfonso Trujillo. She has many nephews and nieces who loved her dearly.

Marguerite was a great believer in our Lord and was baptized March 1947 and confirmed November 1947 as an Episcopalian. She was active in the church for many years.

Marguerite was a member of the DOES Drove 35 for over 50 years. She was a past president and secretary. She was a member of PTA and a president at one time during the time her children were in school.

She was a stay at home Mom until the twins were in the 8th grade. She then went to work at Gilberts Clothing Store. After that she went to work for Civil Service at the base.

When she and Virgel retired they took their travel trailer and traveled all over the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Marguerite was a great cook and seamstress and enjoyed sharing her knowledge with her family and friends. She also liked doing copper work and water color and oil painting. She taught us how to can and she made the best pickles. She was always there to help anyone who needed help. Everyone that knew her loved her. She loved and lived her life to the fullest.

Services for Marguerite will be held on Friday, September 17 at 11:00 a.m. at Gunter's Funeral Home in Hawthorne, Nevada.
