Former Monroe Academy students Kimberly Vinson and Keaton Williams helped their new school win the GISA Region 2-AAA championships on Saturday night. Both students transferred to Tattnall Square Academy after MA closed in July 2009. On Saturday night, the Lady Trojans (22-3, 5-1 in GISA Region 2-AAA) beat the Stratford Eaglettes to clinch the region title with a score of 49-44. This is their first region title since 1998. Vinson scored one basket.

The boys team defeated the Mount de Sales Cavaliers 59-53 to win their third consecutive region championship. State playoffs will begin on Wednesday for the girls and Friday for the boys at Stratford Academy. Kimberly is the daughter of Joel and Denise Vinson of Forsyth and Keaton is the son of Ned Williams and Beth Griffin.
