The Mary Persons FFA Agricultural Mechanics team won the Area III FFA agricultural mechanics career development event held Feb. 11 at Perry High School. Out of 31 individuals, Tyler Dungan placed first, Caleb Walston placed second, Cody Ham placed third, and Ben Pierson placed fourth.

These team members will participate in the state competition on March 20. The state winning team will advance to national competition held in conjunction with the National FFA Convention in Louisville, KY, in October.

The team participated in individual problem solving and skill development activities and took a written examination.

The event included subject matter associated with machinery and equipment systems and energy systems.

Several Members from the FFA also took part in a GGIA sponsored certifi- cation on January 28. These students were asked to take a written test and identify fifty plants in order to be named a junior plant professional. Out of the seven that were certified, Kaylynn Phillips and Rachel Johnson were from the Mary Persons FFA chapter.
