After finding Christina Reeves' corpse on the floor of her Towaliga Lake Drive mobile home, Inv. Allen Henderson had to shake his head.

"If she had just let us help her, she'd be alive today," said Henderson, who handles domestic cases for the Monroe County Sheriffs Office.

Reeves, 44, was apparently shot and killed by her ex-husband and live-in, Tim George Meza, 52, early last week at the High Falls trailer they shared. After killing Reeves, Meza apparently shot and killed himself. His body was found locked inside a closet. They were found after a friend visited their mobile home on Tuesday.

Sadly, Henderson said the murder-suicide doesn't come as a shock. Six months ago, on March 15, he had been called to the home after Meza shot Reeves in the thigh.

Meza said Reeves had pushed down his 84 year old mother, Genevieve Meza, causing her to dislocated her hip. Meza had told deputies he shot twice into the ground before Reeves tried to jump him. So he fired another shot toward the ground and hit her in the leg, according to a sheriffs report. Reeves was found about a quarter of a mile from the home. She told deputies the ' gunshot wound didn't hurt in part because earlier they had smoked crack together. While being treated for her wound, Reeves also told an EMT that Meza raped her. Meza was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and cruelty to children and his teenage daughter was put into a foster home.

After being treated at the hospital, Reeves was put into a safe house to protect her from Meza. But Henderson said Reeves eventually moved back in with Meza.

He said the sheriffs office and CARE Cottage did everything they could to help Reeves, but that it's hard when people return to an abusive relationship.

Both bodies were taken to the GBI Crime lab in Atlanta last week for autopsies to determine cause of death.
